Dry needling
It is an invasive technique in which a fine needle (similar to an acupuncture needle) is inserted into a muscle trigger point to deactivate the contraction and reduce pain.
- Persistent contractions.
- Myofascial pain.
- Mobility limitations due to trigger points.
- Excessive fear of needles.
- Coagulation disorders or anticoagulant treatment.
- Pregnancy in certain areas.
- Local or systemic infection.
There may be a sensation of soreness or heaviness in the muscle for 24–48 hours. Then, improvement in mobility and reduction in pain.
